Vestas Technology & Operations > Research & Development (R&D) > Product Noise & Electromagnetic Effects 

Vestas R&D is where new product ideas are developed, matured, improved, and tested. Product Noise & Electromagnetic Effects, part of Onshore Solutions, defines strategies, requirements, technologies, and concepts ensuring compliant and robust noise and electromagnetic environmental performance of Vestas products.

We are strengthening the Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) team and are looking for a Lead Engineer to contribute to the design, simulation, verification, and certification of E3 solutions across our turbine platforms. The role focuses on hands on engineering and technical coordination at project and system level, working closely with specialists and other engineering disciplines.

The team covers the following areas:

  • EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility)
  • Lightning protection
  • Stray current
  • Low voltage protection
  • Earthing and grounding
  • Electromagnetic simulations

The team supports robust, compliant, and well documented E3 design of Vestas products, contributing to both new turbine development and the maintenance of existing platforms.

 

Responsibilities

As part of the team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Contribute as an E3 engineer within one or more E3 disciplines (e.g. EMC, lightning protection, earthing/grounding. Support root cause analysis of E3 related issues arising during development, validation, or field operation
  • Lead E3 engineering activities within projects, providing detailed technical analysis and design implementation
  • Execute and analyse E3 simulations and perform supporting programming or scripting to solve project specific challenges
  • Support the definition, implementation, and verification of E3 requirements at product, system, and component level
  • Participate in product level testing (laboratory and in situ), including preparation, execution, and analysis
  • Support certification activities, including interpretation of standards and preparation of technical documentation
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of guidelines, methods, and technical documentation

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience working within one or more E3 disciplines
  • Proven experience across E3 simulation, design, testing, and verification activities
  • Hands‑on experience with electromagnetic simulations, including programming or scripting, using tools such as COMSOL, CST, or equivalent simulation software
  • Good understanding of relevant international standards and certification processes
  • Experience from the wind industry or exposure to complex electrical systems is considered an advantage

  • Proactive and self-driven with a sense of technical responsibility
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines in a global, cross functional organization
  • Ability to take technical ownership within project scope and contribute to technical decision making
  • Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken
